The New Balance 327, the essential sneaker

You've seen the New Balance 327, you've loved it, but do you really know it?

Inspired by 3 old models of the brand:

  • The 1976 NB320: Described as the perfect pair for both beginner joggers and Olympic athletes. Already available at the time for both men and women, its 2016 reissue was a resounding success.

  • The 1977 NB355: the pair suited to all terrains, on grass, mud or on the road, its astonishing-looking sole was a technological feat.

  • The 1977 SuperComp: the combination of comfort and performance, all in unexpected colors at the time

In all these pairs, New Balance works around technologies to improve the comfort, but also the durability of its pairs.

It is with this in mind that the 327 was created, incorporating the strengths of the three pairs from which it draws inspiration.

Designed by Charlotte Lee, the 327 adopts the vintage codes of its ancestors with sleeker, more avant-garde lines. A unisex pair available in a wide range of colors.

In an interview, Charlotte Lee revealed more about the process of creating the 327. Her goal was to take old New Balance shoes and transform them into a more contemporary design. The brand's archives were Charlotte's biggest inspiration, she said, "There are some pretty strange and amazing things in the archives, and I was just getting started."

It is also thanks to his research that we know about the New Balance 237 and XC-72.

Fun fact: Charlotte Lee has never been into sneakers and didn't wear them! According to her, her lack of knowledge of the industry allowed her to come up with innovative designs that wouldn't be influenced by current trends. Now, she's proud to wear the pairs she designed!
