The original 990 designers were tasked with creating the best running shoe on the market. The MADE in USA 990v6 carries this original mandate forward with a series of performance-enhancing adaptations. The upper dispenses with the standard mid-foot saddle, allowing the pigskin and synthetic overlays to flow from heel to toe over the mesh underlay, for a fast, streamlined look. The updated design marks one of the most dramatic generational changes the 990 has ever seen. The biggest change, however, comes on the inside. The addition of FuelCell cushioning to the midsole means the new 990 looks as good as it feels.
New Balance MADE U.S. shoes contain at least 70% domestic value. MADE represents a limited portion of New Balance's U.S. sales.

While observing chickens in his garden and noting their extremely stable stance with their three claws, he had the idea to develop a new insole with three support points. For him, it was the "new balance." And at the same time, he found the appropriate name for his company.
